Unsung Heroes

The Murray Foundation was established in 1996 by Sir David Murray as a support service for those affected by limb loss or absence in Scotland. Since that time the range of help and support offered has grown to incorporate the many different aspects of rehabilitation. The majority of those services have been developed as a result of our work with volunteers, new patients and also rehabilitation professionals and we constantly strive to improve and develop those services through discussion and feedback.

SUSAN SHAW

Susan has been the Director of the Foundation since it was established in 1996. Susan trained as a prosthetist/orthotist and worked in prosthetics for a number of years for both the NHS and the private sector. After completing her MBA at Strathclyde Business School she worked for a time in management consulting before becoming involved in the Foundation. Since that time she has become increasingly involved in counselling skills training and has a particular interest in the psychological effect of amputation upon the rehabilitation outcome.


MarjorieDodds

MARJORIE DODDS

Marjorie took up post as Development Manager in January 2001. Her responsibilities include improving links with other associated organisations and helping to increase awareness of the Foundation. Marjorie graduated in Prosthetics and Orthotics from the National Centre and was also a lecturer there for a number of years before leaving to bring up her family. Since that time she has also been employed as Centre Prosthetist at the Edinburgh Limb Fitting Centre.
