SCOTTISH AMPUTEE OPEN GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

Date: 2006-08-14

The Murray Foundation Scottish Amputee Open Golf Championship took place at Westerwood Hotel, Cumbernauld from 14th – 18th August 2006. There was a fantastic entry of 66 competitors from as far a field as Australia, Canada, South Africa and USA playing alongside our homegrown talent.

The event took place over 5 days with a practice day and sponsors invitation day at the start of the week and the championship over the remaining 3 days. The golfers played 3 rounds of the par 72 Westerwood course which is set in a beautiful location overlooking the Campsie hills and with the Scottish weather holding out well, the views were spectacular.

The event caters not only for golfers but also their families and a varied program of excursions and in house activities had been organised. Everything from an evening at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo to learning how to flambé; from trips to Rosslyn Chapel, the Edinburgh festival and Stirling to a craft workshop and falconry demonstration. In the evening the entertainment continued with a Scottish style floorshow on sponsor’s night, an international quiz night on Thursday and finished with a Gala night including the presentation of prizes on the Friday.
